Since it’s the first Sunday of the month and also Easter, Florence museums will be free all day long!!
Here are some of the museums and hours of opening:
Openings & closings for 2018:
Palazzo Vecchio and Arnolfo Tower – the museum will be open on Sunday 1 and Monday 2, 2018 from 9 am to 11 pm; the tower from 9 am to 9 pm (closed in case of rain)
Museo Novecento – open on Easter Sunday and Monday, 2018 from 11 am to 8 pm
Complesso di Santa Maria Novella – open on April 1 from 1 pm to 5,30 pm and Monday from 9 am to 7 pm
Museo Bardini – closed on April 1, open on Easter Monday, 2018 from 11 am to 5 pm
Cappella Brancacci – closed on April 16, open on Easter Monday from 1 pm to 5 pm
Fondazione Salvatore Romano – closed on April 1, open on Easter Monday, 2018 from 1 pm to 5 pm
Bigallo Museum – guided visits on April 1 and April 2, 2018 at 10 am and 12 pm (reservation required at 055288496)
Accademia Gallery – open on April 1 (free entry as it is First Sunday of the month) and special opening on April 2, open both days from 8.15 am to 6.50 pm
Palazzo Strozzi – open over the entire Easter weekend, 10am -8pm
Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens – open on April 1st with free entry (First Sunday of the month).
Uffizi Gallery – on April 2nd, open from 8.15am to 6.50pm.
Boboli Gardens – open from 8.15am to 6.30pm. Last entrance an hour before closing time.
On Easter Sunday follow the procession of cart through the streets of Florence on it’s way to the Duomo for the Explosion of the cart:
When: 1/04/2018 (every Easter Sunday)
The “Cart of Fire”, accompanied by the Historic Procession of the Florentine Republic, will leave from the Prato’s depot to reach Piazza del Duomo with the following itinerary:
via il Prato, Borgo Ognissanti, Goldoni square, via della Vigna Nuova, via Strozzi, piazza della Repubblica (with reunion with the Gonfalone coming from Piazza Signoria), via Roma with arrival in piazza San Giovanni.
A representation of Bandierai of the Uffizi will start from the Palagio di Parte Guelfa, along via Porta Rossa, Mercato Nuovo, via Vacchereccia, P.zza della Signoria.
Piazza Signoria: the Procession of the Florentine Republic, with the Gonfalone and the Mayor, will move along Via Calzaiuoli, Via degli Speziali, to reach Piazza della Repubblica – display of flag-wavers and musicians – then rejoining the procession from Via il Prato.
