20 squares to wait for 2020 in Florence. No longer a concert in Piazzale Michelangelo, but a widespread program of events in 20 different places in the center and Oltrarno: Florence is preparing to celebrate the 2020 New Year in the square and it does so by increasing the number of locations where on the evening of December 31st will toast the new year, including parties, parties under the stars, children’s initiatives, shows and free concerts. The Florentine geography of New Year’s Eve was announced.
At Fortezza da Basso you can visit the longest ice skating rink in Europe, a record-breaking path on ice all around the pool of the gardens of the Fortezza da Basso for a 300-meter track, the longest in Europe. The Florence Ice Village is the novelty of the 2019 holidays, but will remain active also in the first months of 2020, after the Befana’s passage with its 1500 square meters of “frozen rink”. In addition, near the Poggi fountain, also from a Christmas village with initiatives, markets, crafts and food stalls.

Waiting is now over Sunday Florence hosts the 36th edition of the Florence Marathon. The departure on Sunday 24 November at 8.30 from Piazza Duomo where the arrival is also located, preceded by 3 minutes from the start of the race for disabled people in handy bike.
The 2019 edition is characterized by many confirmations: the race keeps unchanged the circular route all set in the city of Florence and which touches the most famous monuments and artistic places and with the arrival at the Duomo.
Florence Charity Run, which will start at 10.30 am with logistics and village in Piazza Gui alle Cascine, in front of the Maggio Musicale theater and which will also be attended by the students of the Carabinieri School and Marshals.

Florence for Halloween returns the scariest run of the year: the Florence Halloween Run. At the Cascine Park in Florence on October 31st at 8:00 pm there will be monsters, zombies and witches: 4 km open to all with start and finish at the Le Pavoniere pool.

Also this year the sporting event returns, which since 2003 has raised over 5,700,000 euros, bringing together almost 335,100 participants and allowing quality assistance to over 400,000 women.
The 2019 edition will take place on September 29th.
The event takes place through two routes of approximately 5.5 and 11 km. and was born as a moment of sport and culture but, first of all, of social commitment. A unique opportunity to have fun and make contact with a reality that accompanies us every day.

Meeting in Piazza Vittorio Veneto at 8.30am, departure at 8.45am
The first route of about 11 km, which starts from piazzale Vittorio Veneto (Cascine), crosses Ponte alla Vittoria, reaches Via Pisana and passes through the Giardino Strozzi and Via del Monte Oliveto, new stages of the 2019 edition; continue in the direction of Piazza Pitti and leave the Oltrarno da Ponte alle Grazie, to continue towards Santa Croce, touch Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Signoria, Duomo and Battistero and return to the Cascine.
The second one, of about 5.5 km, will be studded with a series of cultural stages and will also cross part of the Oltrarno to then return to the starting square passing from Ponte alla Carraia.
