The festival, promoted by the City of Florence, this year was born under the banner of the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, whose five hundredth anniversary of his death will be celebrated in 2019. It will be possible to admire it in many areas of the city: Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the Central Market and the Oltrarno, with particular attention to the towers and the city gates and the neighborhoods outside the city center historian. At the center of F-light there is always light, a source of universal energy.

Santa Monaca Hostel advises: the Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas market from November 28th in Piazza Santa Croce in Florence
Also for this Christmas the appointment with the Weihnachtsmarkt returns to the German market in Piazza Santa Croce from November 28th to December 20th.
The more than fifty stands housed in the characteristic wooden houses will bring to Florence the aromas and flavors typical of Christmas with artistic handicrafts and traditional foods from all over Europe.
An opportunity to taste inviting gastronomic specialties, warm up with delicious hot drinks and browse through the stalls looking for original gift ideas and handmade Christmas decorations and a rich program of events.
The Florence Marathon, now in issue n. 35, will take place on Sunday 25 November 2018.
Also confirmed for this edition the route with departure and arrival in the heart of the city, in Piazza Duomo. Other squares, such as Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Santa Maria Novella, will instead be committed to support services for runners, such as refreshments, preheating, massage service and storage of race bags. The historic center of Florence will therefore be a real party on the day of the marathon.
To commemorate Gioachino Rossini in the year in which the 150th anniversary of his death is celebrated, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Theater will perform in a celebratory concert set for November 13th, the date of his death, which will be performed in front of the composer’s tomb in the Basilica of Santa Croce.

Sunday, November 4 returns the Sunday Metropolitan offering a program of visits and activities particularly broad, because the proposals of the Florentine Civic Museums, are flanked by visits to Palazzo Medici Riccardi and the complex of Sant’Orsola, exceptionally open to the public.

The Balloon Festival is a great festival dedicated to the giants of the air. The hot air balloons will color the sky of Florence for the second year, exciting families who want to spend a day full of fun.
The event suitable for everyone, will take place from the early hours of the morning, the balloons of all shapes and colors will be inflated and dedicated to the bound flight, then tied with a strong rope on the ground, for all the people who want to experience the emotion to see the city from the height of twenty meters.
The International Ceramics Fair from 6th to 7th October 2018 – Florence – Piazza Santissima Annunziata
The International Ceramic Fair comes back to Santissima Annunziata.
Now in its 19th edition, the fair will bring to the streets the best craftsmen with their creations to admire and buy.
90 artists will exhibit their creations in the most varied and innovative techniques and ceramic materials: you can find objects of use, furniture, sculptures, jewels.
In addition to the exhibition market there will be a space dedicated to teaching with clay: will be proposed workshops of manipulation and modeling of clay, laboratory of whistles.
In the Palazzo Budini Gattai will host Matthew Tyas, coordinator of the Leach Foundation for exhibitions and collections.
In particular, one of the shops will host a tribute to Lindsay Kemp, recently deceased: some of Kemp’s drawings have been selected to decorate five ceramic plates, unique pieces that will be exhibited together with the artist’s original sketches during the two days.
The Wired Next Fest, which will be held in Palazzo Vecchio from September 28th to 30th, arrives in Florence for the third time. This year’s theme will be “Simplicity”. The aim is to tell how innovation, new technologies, the use of big data and artificial intelligences are able to make life – of individuals, companies and organizations – simpler.
