19th May 2018 – European Museum Night – nightly revenue at 1 euro

Back an appointment that has become a tradition: the European Night of Museums. On May 19th, many Florentine museums will be open from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm at the symbolic price of 1 euro. The event will take place throughout Europe.
Please note that during the three hours of extraordinary opening the entrance ticket will be at the symbolic cost of 1 euro, while during the ordinary hours the ticket will take place according to the usual costs.

XXXV HALF MARATHON FIRENZE Vivicittà – 15th April 2018

The 35^ edition of the international Half Marathon Firenze Vivicittà will take place on Sunday 15th April 2018. Runners from all over the word, enthusiasts and families with children come to participate in this classic sport event in the streets of Florence.

The event will have four different races:
– The classic Half Marathon (21,097 km)
– Non competitive race (8 km)
– Walking (5 km)
– Kids race “Tommasino Run” (1,5 km)

The route will lead you past the main monuments that have made Florence famous all over the world: from Lungarno della Zecca to Piazza della Signoria, from Piazza Duomo to Oltrarno. The race course is completely asphalted and flat. These characteristics make the Half Marathon Firenze Vivicittà loved by runners with start and finish in Piazza Santa Croce.

The Vivicittà Village, located in Piazza Santa Croce, became very popular over the years: here people can find sport events and lots of fun. The Half Marathon Firenze Vivicittà supports a charity event every year and the organization strives to be eco-friendly.
All of this guarantees that all runners run for a good cause.

EASTER CELEBRATIONS IN FLORENCE: EXPLOSION OF THE CART/SCOPPIO DEL CARRO

On Easter Sunday follow the procession of cart through the streets of Florence on it’s way to the Duomo for the Explosion of the cart:

The “Cart of Fire”, accompanied by the Historic Procession of the Florentine Republic, will leave from the Prato’s depot to reach Piazza del Duomo with the following itinerary:
via il Prato, Borgo Ognissanti, Goldoni square, via della Vigna Nuova, via Strozzi, piazza della Repubblica (with reunion with the Gonfalone coming from Piazza Signoria), via Roma with arrival in piazza San Giovanni.
8:15 am
A representation of Bandierai of the Uffizi will start from the Palagio di Parte Guelfa, along via Porta Rossa, Mercato Nuovo, via Vacchereccia, P.zza della Signoria.
8.30 am
Piazza Signoria: the Procession of the Florentine Republic, with the Gonfalone and the Mayor, will move along Via Calzaiuoli, Via degli Speziali, to reach Piazza della Repubblica – display of flag-wavers and musicians – then rejoining the procession from Via il Prato.

FAI Spring Days 24 and 25 March 2018 in Florence – guided tours of the Murate

An extraordinary opening to get to know the history and the environments of the complex The Murate.

Progetti Arte Contemporanea participates in the Spring Days and on March 25 from 10:00 to 18:00 (last entrance at 17:00) opens the doors of the former convent and former Florentine penitentiary for a journey to discover the structure, from the courtyard of the hour of air to the cells of the hard prison.

The initiative, which is part of the 26th edition of the Primavera Fai Days (which are open on March 24 and 25, over 1000 places throughout Italy) sees the Murate complex selected among the places visited in the city of Florence, with guides of the Gruppo Fai Giovani Firenze to act as guides in the various environments.

The route of view includes: the spaces of the former male prison, the cells of the hard prison, the ground floor of the semi-octagon. The installation ‘Nuclei (Vitali)’ by Valeria Muledda, in the hard prison, will allow an involving and multi-sensory experience through the reproduction of the sounds of the prison and the testimony of those who lived there.
