This weekend (6th and 7th of April), Michelangelo square will host the Gelato Festival with 16 of the best artisan gelato makers in Italy. Each of them will propose a brand new taste: you will be able to try their creations and vote to estabilish the “favorite” ice cream – their creators will continue their journey towards the final of the Gelato Festival World Masters 2021.
You will also discover the secrets of the world of ice cream among tastings and educational workshops set up within the three big food trucks.
One of these truck will be the world famous “Buontalenti”; the largest mobile ice cream production laboratory in the world.
The ticket will entitle to taste of all of the ice cream flavours in the competition and to the participation in the activities of the village.

The festival, promoted by the City of Florence, this year was born under the banner of the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, whose five hundredth anniversary of his death will be celebrated in 2019. It will be possible to admire it in many areas of the city: Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the Central Market and the Oltrarno, with particular attention to the towers and the city gates and the neighborhoods outside the city center historian. At the center of F-light there is always light, a source of universal energy.

Santa Monaca Hostel advises: the Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas market from November 28th in Piazza Santa Croce in Florence
Also for this Christmas the appointment with the Weihnachtsmarkt returns to the German market in Piazza Santa Croce from November 28th to December 20th.
The more than fifty stands housed in the characteristic wooden houses will bring to Florence the aromas and flavors typical of Christmas with artistic handicrafts and traditional foods from all over Europe.
An opportunity to taste inviting gastronomic specialties, warm up with delicious hot drinks and browse through the stalls looking for original gift ideas and handmade Christmas decorations and a rich program of events.
The Florence Marathon, now in issue n. 35, will take place on Sunday 25 November 2018.
Also confirmed for this edition the route with departure and arrival in the heart of the city, in Piazza Duomo. Other squares, such as Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Santa Maria Novella, will instead be committed to support services for runners, such as refreshments, preheating, massage service and storage of race bags. The historic center of Florence will therefore be a real party on the day of the marathon.
To commemorate Gioachino Rossini in the year in which the 150th anniversary of his death is celebrated, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Theater will perform in a celebratory concert set for November 13th, the date of his death, which will be performed in front of the composer’s tomb in the Basilica of Santa Croce.

Sunday, November 4 returns the Sunday Metropolitan offering a program of visits and activities particularly broad, because the proposals of the Florentine Civic Museums, are flanked by visits to Palazzo Medici Riccardi and the complex of Sant’Orsola, exceptionally open to the public.
